How will the Department of Agriculture & Water Resources Cost Recovery Redesign Affect Importers?

The Department of Agriculture & Water Resources (DAWR), also referred to as Australian Quarantine, has implemented a redesign of their cost recovery measures which have come into place on 1st December 2015. DAWR have indicated that the basis for the restructure is to provide clarity about the Department’s fees and levies to the industry when using biosecurity services.

The primary changes to affect importers will see a general increase in the Quarantine Entry Charges that are applied to an Import Declaration:

AIR SEA – FCL SEA – LCL
30 Nov 2015 $16 $45 $23
1 Dec 2015 $33 $42 $42

This change will be applied to all import declarations lodged from 1st December 2015 onwards.
